Emirates has officially launched construction works for its new engineering complex in the Dubai South area. The facility, which will be developed with an investment of approximately $5.1 billion, is planned to become one of the world’s most advanced maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) centers.
The complex will cover a total area of 1.1 million square meters and will have the capacity to simultaneously maintain up to 28 widebody aircraft. The facility will also include two dedicated aircraft paint hangars. The project is being constructed by China Railway Construction Corporation, while consultancy services are being provided by Artelia.
The new Emirates engineering facility will feature:
- One of the world’s largest free-span hangars with a width of 285 meters
- The world’s largest privately operated landing gear maintenance workshop
- A 77,000-square-meter maintenance and repair workspace
- A 380,000-square-meter storage and logistics area
- Next-generation paint hangars capable of serving both widebody and narrowbody aircraft
The complex will also include 50,000 square meters of office space, a 15,000-square-meter training center, and a dedicated operations building responsible for managing airside access.
